Lacrosse Positions Academies

Presented by the Apex HS Coaching Staff

Registration is currently underway for this  Boys Lacrosse program!

Looking to improve your game with intensive instruction exclusive to your position? Players will go through a set of curriculum to learn all aspects of their position in our controlled indoor environment. We will also utilize video tape breakdown of some of our sessions as a teaching tool.

The Attack and Defense Academy, and Midfield Academy is for players grades 6-9 who all ready possess fundamental skills in passing, catching, and cradling and are seeking to bring their game to the next level.  And we also offer an Instructional Academy for players grades 5-9.

Attack and Defense Academy - Only 11 Attackmen and 11 Defensemen will be taken in this program. The players will work separately by position and then together in order to incorporate “live action” reps into the program. The Attack and Defense Academy will be led by Apex HS Head Coach John Hayden.

Midfield Academy – Only 22 Midfielders will be accepted in this program. We will cover all aspects of Midfield play. The Midfield Academy will be led by longtime Apex HS Assistant Coach and NC State Head Coach, Chip Thurston.

Instructional Academy – This is for players in grades 5-9 who are interested in learning all of the fundamentals of these positions.  It teaches players the overall instruction of the game, and covers many different aspects of the game of Lacrosse.

Girls: We will also be running a Girls Instructional Academy for grades 5-12.  This academy will help girls from the middle school to high school range to better their skills.  We will be accepting 27 players into this Academy.

Coed Grades 1-4:  This group is for our youngest beginners to Lacrosse, and it will teach everything from how to catch and throw the ball, to the strategy behind the game.  We are accepting 20 players into this Academy.

The following is the schedule for the upcoming Lacrosse Academies:

  • Girls 5-12 Instructional: 9:30am- 10:45am
  • Attack/Defense: 10:45am- 12:00pm
  • Boys Instructional: 12:00pm- 1:15pm
  • Midfield: 1:15pm- 2:30pm
  • Coed 1-4: 2:30pm- 3:30pm
*Program will run from January 8 – February 12 with SIX sessions.
*Cost of the program will be $140 per player, with the exception of the grades 1-4, which is $112
