Travel Hockey 2011/2012 program details: Changes for 2011/12
Registration is now open for both the Dragons and Action teams for the 2011/2012 season.
Basic information on our Travel Hockey programs is on the Travel page under sports.
Tryouts for the coming year will be held 11/6 for Dragons and 11/13 for Action. Below are the times by age group. If you are unable to make this tryout time, contact Steve at Steve@Dreamsportscenter.com to schedule an alternative time.
We have made several changes to the program for this year.
1. Uniforms: We will no longer be a middle man in the uniform process. Players will deal directly with our supplier at their first practice, get sized, and order Jerseys and or pants. The Action jerseys will be new for this year so all Action players will order new jerseys. Dragons players from last year can re-use their jerseys if they will fit for the next year.
2. Ice Hockey Player Flexibility: In order to allow Ice Hockey players to participate in either of our programs, we will allow Ice Hockey players to try out for either Action or Dragons teams. If they make the team, we will hold a spot open for them until the Ice Hockey season ends. We will back-fill their spots on rosters until they are ready to play. Ice Hockey players that choose this option will receive a $75 discount assuming they will not attend practices until the end of February.
3. Pricing: We have added three new benefits to our travel programs. Dreamsports yearly membership is now included at a discounted rate for Travel Players. We are also including one 2 hour clinic for each team with Peter Dale of USA Clinics. This will be held the first weekend of March 2012 and will allow teams to get the professional coaching and teaching of Peter as the season kicks into a higher gear. Coaches will be able to tailor these sessions to their individual team needs. This would normally be a $50 value per player. All travel players will now be able to attend youth pick-up sessions free of charge during the travel season. This provides one more opportunity for them to continue to improve their game. This change represents a potential of over $160 in savings per player. Our travel fees save players roughly $50 to $210 each.
4. Coaches benefit too! Starting this year we will provide head coaches for our travel teams with one free rec season for themselves or their children. Our coaches dedicate an enormous amount of time and effort towards our teams. While we can not fully compensate them for their efforts, hopefully this benefit at least acknowledges their contribution to our teams.
5. Supplemental Accident Insurance. Lastly, the boring part. We now carry supplemental accident insurance on all of our members. This covers our members while they are doing any Dreamsports sanctioned activity, whether at Dreamsports or not. It also provides coverage while in route to a Dreamsports activity. This benefit applies to players and coaches and applies to costs not covered by someone’s primary insurance.
In total, we believe we offer a great program for kids to experience the next step up from rec hockey at a great value.
